Donald H. Petry Sr.

Donald H. Petry Sr passed away on June 26 ^th 2022 at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen of sixty years, his daughter Ellen and her husband Terence Whalen, three granddaughters Hadley and Brielle Whalen and Jennifer Somero, and two sons Martin and Donald Jr. and wife Maryanne Petry. He was predeceased by his wonderful grandson Brendan Petry.  He is also survived by his beloved and constant companion, Shih Tzu, Clyde.

Donald went to St. John’s University in NYC and Bridgeport University in Connecticut. He worked as a NYC Policeman and Fireman and retired from NYC Fire Department. After his retirement he also became a teacher in Norwalk Connecticut, and then opened his own business at “Elbow Grease” a Professional Residential and Commercial Cleaning Service in Ridgefield CT and Cape Cod Mass.

Donald served in the National Guard and then served in the United States Army.

A celebration of his life will be at Sauls Funeral Home (Bluffton) July 17 ^th at 1 P.M.  In lieu of flowers please a consider a donation to Palmetto Animal League 56 Riverwalk Blvd Ridgeland, SC 29936.

At a later date he will be interned at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
