Donald Saul passed to his eternal reward after a difficult series of illnesses on Sunday July 6, 2014 at Coastal Carolina Hospital. His only daughter Meg was by his side. Donald was born in Englewood, New Jersey to John Saul and Sylvia Vordermeier in May of 1930 both of whom are now deceased. He later spent his preteen and teen years in South Orange, New Jersey; there he earned his private flying license at Morristown Airport in New Jersey soloing in a Piper Cub at the tender age of 16. Summers Donald worked as a lifeguard in Belmar, New Jersey; graduating from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. He loved all air history, progress and major breakthroughs in the world of flight for the remainder of his life. During World War II the family moved to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida with his three brothers, John who served in the Navy, later Richard in the Army and Jerome in the Air Force, now deceased. Donald joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After completing his military service he earned his degree from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and joined the family business Maple Buick in South Orange. He spent the remainder of his professional career in the automotive industry. Don is survived by his wife Peg and their four children; son Donald and daughter-in-law Frances and their daughter Madeleine, daughter Meg and son-in-law Chris and their children, Ashleigh and Duncan, son Christopher and daughter-in-law Lori and their children, Gislina and Patrick and son Laurence and daughter-in-law Sarah and their children, Katherine and John. His greatest love and pride are for his entire family, children, and grandchildren, his wife Peggi and especially his service in US Marine Corps. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton followed by interment at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm with a Vigil Service at 5:30pm, Sunday July 20, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton. Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton followed by interment at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm with a Vigil Service at 5:30pm, Sunday July 20, 2014 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton.
