Doris Cowart Dixon Coleman, 74 of Bluffton, SC, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at her home. She was born in Sparta, GA on November 28, 1940 to Doris Kennedy Cowart White and the late Carlus Cowart, Sr. Doris loved her family and was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Doris is survived by her mother, Doris K. Cowart White of Augusta, GA; her former husband Huey Odis Dixon of Girard, GA; sons Shelly Dixon (Melanie) of Pooler, GA, George Dixon (Kristin) of Pritchardville, SC, and Chris Poteat of Augusta, GA; daughters Tammy Frank of Bluffton, SC and Angela Corder of Lexington, SC; brother Lester Cowart (Marjorie) of Augusta, GA; sisters Rita Gay of Augusta, GA and Berna Green of Augusta, GA; grandchildren Bryan Dixon, Brandi King, Becca Dixon, Bethany Dixon, and Ty Dixon; and 4 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brother, Carlus Cowart, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Hilton Head Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hilton Head Island, SC with burial at 3:30 pm at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Cobbtown, Georgia.
