Doris Morrison

Doris Van Arsdale Morrison passed away on September 9, 2010 at the age of 96 at Broadcreek Care Center on Hilton Head Island.Doris was born in White House, NJ on April 20, 1914 to Carrie Dalley and Frank Leslie Van Arsdale. She graduated from Bound Brook High School in Bound Brook, NJ in 1931 and then graduated from Somerset Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. Doris was President of her class all 3 years. Most of her nursing years were spent at VA Hospitals in Lyons, NJ, Gainsville, FL and Palo Alto, CA where she worked in psychiatry.After her retirement from Nursing, she moved to the Villages in San Jose, CA where she golfed, hiked, danced and entertained in the communities theater group. Later, she and her husband, Ken, moved to Sun City, AZ and then to Freedom Plaza retirement center in Peoria, AZ where her love for dance continued. Her last few years were spent with her daughter, Jane in Bluffton, SC.Mrs. Morrison's husband, Kenneth Morrison, and her brother, Lloyd, preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 children from a previous marriage; Jane Carson-Sandler of Bluffton, SC and William Dunham of Phoenix, AZ; by 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of The Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton on Thursday, September 16th at 11:00 am.The family requests that donations be made either to God's Goods Thrift Store or the Military Care Ministry c/o Church of The Cross, P.O.
