Doris Lorraine Weinmann

September 19, 1922 — June 11, 2021

Doris Lorraine Weinmann, 98, of Bluffton SC passed away on June 11, 2021, with family by her side. She was born on September 19, 1922, to Charlotte Dewhirst McCormick and Harold Rockwood McCormick in Roswell, ID. She moved to Portland, OR during WWII  to work as a Kaiser shipyard inspector. It was there that she met a handsome soldier who would become her husband. She married John H. Weinmann and together they had two daughters. She was a beloved first-grade teacher in Metuchen, NJ for many years. Her numerous interests included skiing, bike-riding, camping, kayaking, piano, recorder, bell choir, painting, ice skating, square dancing, tai chi, PEO, Girl Scouts, travel, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen, NJ; St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Sun City Center, FL; and Central Congregational Church in Providence, RI.

She is survived by her daughters Janis Faye Steven (David)  of Bluffton, SC and Suzanne Gail Elliott (Robert) of Dighton, MA; her grandchildren Megan, Sally, and Rob, and several great-grandchildren.

Lorraine will be forever in our hearts. She was a treasure to all who knew her: kind, wise, joyful, and always living and loving life to the fullest.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to do something special in her memory for yourself, for others, or for an organization that is meaningful to you.
