Dorothe Johnson, 77, beloved wife of Oscar (Ben) Johnson, passed away on September 15th at her home in Hampton Lake. She was born to Theo Josef Biekens and Dorothea Petronella Van de Ven Biekens on June 23, 1940 in Tilburg, the Netherlands, and was the sixth child of the family. She was educated in the schools of Tilburg and graduated college in Amsterdam, majoring in sociology. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1965 and joined IBM in Boca Raton FL soon after. She became a citizen in 1970. She spent 19 years with IBM with assignments in Florida, Birmingham, Atlanta, and San Francisco. In San Francisco she became a high level administration manager and received numerous awards. In 1979, In San Francisco she married her husband of 38 years, Ben Johnson. In 1987, she retired and spent much time on the tennis courts and the golf course, again winning awards. In 2000, she and Ben moved to Hilton Head Island, and in 2011 moved to Hampton Lake in Bluffton where she made many new friends. She is the last of her immediate family, but has many nephews, nieces, and cousins in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Great Britain. She is survived by her husband and her loved step-children, Mike (Carla) Johnson of Birmingham and Kathryn (Joey) Dzwonkowski of Mobile and step-grandchildren Beau and Kate of Birmingham.
