Dorothy Ellis Smart

Dorothy “Dot” Ellis Smart of Okatie, SC passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on June 14, 2023. She was born in Savannah, GA on July 18, 1926 to parents W.J. and Ivy (Langford) Ellis. Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Lt. Col. Curtis L. Smart, and two of her grandchildren, Donald T. Knowles, Jr. and Kimberly A. Knowles. Dot’s passions were her Lord and church, her family and her Chechessee Community.

Dot is survived by her three daughters and their husbands; Ann and Ronnie Nettles; Patricia and Calvin Bryan; and Victoria and Roy Pryor. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Kellie (Eric) Chapman; Jared (Trish) Bryan; Josh (Lauren) Cleveland; Lee (Sarah) Pryor and Luke (Rodney) Cleveland and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 2 to 3 pm at Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland, SC. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 3 pm in Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland, SC with burial in Ridgeland Cemetery.
