Douglas James Stephen

October 30, 1944 — July 24, 2021

DOUGLAS JAMES STEPHEN,  (age 76)

Doug went home to be with the Lord July 24, 2021 after a sudden health event.  He passed peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Donna, and was surrounded by the love of his family as he journeyed home.

Doug was born in Akron, Ohio (1944) and lived in that vicinity until he and Donna moved to SC after retiring from nearly 40 years in the diamond industry.   While here in SC, Doug enjoyed his family first and foremost, and spent his leisure time enjoying his other lifelong interests of the outdoors, sailing and gardening.  He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid reader, reading 3 books per week.

We will all cherish our most recent memories of being together at Disney World with him and Donna, while celebrating their 25 years together.  The universe aligned to allow this magical and memorable time to be together just a few short weeks before his passing.  This was the first opportunity he was able to be with his entire family together at the same time, and the happiness from this will remain with him through eternity.

Known for his charming wit and gentle manner, Doug was loved and admired by many. He is finally free of pain and able to hear all the laughs, thoughts, and love from his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 25 years, his four children, and his nine grandchildren.  Jeb Stephen (wife, Jill) and their four children:  Dawson, Lauren, Amelia, and Trevor;  Tyler Stephen (wife, Elizabeth) and children:  Ella and Abby; Step-daughters, Shannon Weiland (husband, Jim) and children:  Max and Jimmy; and Kelly Mayer (husband, Lee) and their son Maddox.

You will be forever missed, and forever loved.

Doug, we ask that you look over us, guide us, and know our love is with you, until we meet again….

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Church of the Palms, 1425 Okatie Hwy, Okatie. Light refreshments will be served an hour prior at the church.
