E. Muriel Freund

E. Muriel Freund, 104 of Bluffton, SC passed away on December 6, 2014 at Life Care Center of Hilton Head, SC. She was born in Truro, England on December 10, 1909 , the third daughter of Beatrice Alice and Albert Ernest Spurrier. The family emigrated to America when Muriel was a toddler, and settled in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY where her parents operated a pram and umbrella shoppe. She graduated from Bay Ridge High School January 1929 and the Packard Commercial School, Lexington Ave., NYC May 1931. She belonged to the 4th Ave. Methodist Church where she married Charles Freund June 5, 1937. She lived in Franklin Square for 38 years then moved to Bayport, NY for another 25 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1959. Initiated at Morton Chapter, Hempstead, NY transferred to Metlakhatla Chapter #439, Sayville, NY. Served as Warder and Chairman of the Decorating Committee for many years in Sayville. She was a recipient of the dedicated service award from New York State Grand Chapter O.E.S. in 2005. She belonged to Bayport United Methodist Church, Bayport, NY and was active in United Methodist Women and Sarah Circle. She always had something to donate to the Christmas Fair. She considered herself the designated driver for anyone needing to go to the grocery store or needing a ride until she gave up driving. Her family consisted of two daughters, Carolyn Pearl and Lucille Vivian. She moved to SC with her daughter, Lucille. She is survived by one daughter Lucille and her spouse James T. Peppers, Jr; five grandchildren, Karl, Nels Jenkins Janet and her spouse, Robert Thompson, Lucille and her spouse Michael Bonney and James III; nine great grandchildren, Candace, Cathlene, Thomas, Amanda, James IV, Anastasia and four great great grandchildren, Eddie, Delaney, John Jr. and Joseph. She was predeceased b y her daughter, Carolyn and one grandchild, Kristine.
