Earl H. Bergen, III

Earl Hagood Bergen, III, 73, of Ridgeland, SC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 9, 2026 at his home.

Earl was born July 20, 1953 in Newberry, SC, where he was raised by the late Earl Howell Bergen and Lydie Strother Clary Bergen. He preferred the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, and playing golf. During football season, you could find Earl cheering on the Gamecocks – Forever to Thee! But, there was nothing he loved more than his girls, Catherine, Nicole, and Morgan.

Earl is survived by his wife of nearly 31 years, Catherine Williams Bergen; daughters, Nicole Smith (Josh) of Early Branch, SC and Morgan Funk (David) of Flagler Beach, FL; sister, Jeannette Kirkland of GA; brothers-in-law, Tommy Herndon of Prosperity, SC and Morris Williams (Mary Ellen) of Blackville, SC; granddaughters, Emma and Ava; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Bergen Herndon.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Monday, October 12, 2026 at their residence.
