Dr. Ebeid S. Girgis, 84 of Bluffton passed away on July 15, 2016 at Coastal Carolina Hospital, Hardeeville, SC. He was born in Nagaa-Hammadi, Egypt on June 24, 1932 to the late Shoukry Girgis and Ghalila Yousef Girgis. Dr. Girgis came to the United States in 1969 as a religious refugee. Dr. Girgis was a graduate of Cairo University Medical School and ran a general practice in Egypt. Dr. Girgis was a resident trainee for anesthesiology in Milwaukee, WI; interned in Warren, OH; practiced in St. Joseph’s and Hurley Hospitals in Flint, MI and in Guthrie Medical Center in Guthrie, OK. Dr. Girgis and his wife moved to Bluffton in 2004 where he attended Grace Coastal Church and Coptic Orthodox Mass in Savannah. He was a member of the computer club in Sun City; enjoyed traveling the world, swimming was his favorite hobby and loved FOX news. Dr. Girgis is survived by his wife Mary of Bluffton, his son Reda Girgis (Ashraf) of Grand Rapids, MI; his daughters, Eva Guirguis (Maher) of Atlanta, GA and Mona Perry (Ward) of Grand Blanc, MI; his brother, Sabry Gerguis (Janette) of Houston, TX; his sister in law, Dawlat Guirgus; grandchildren, Steve, Suzie, Danny, Michael, Monica, Amytess, Alex and his great grandson, Jacob; his stepsons, Jimmy Mosley (Tina), Aaron Mosley, Troy Mosley (Gretchen) all of OK and Todd Mosley and Jay Mosley of CA and several step grandchildren. Dr. Girgis was predeceased by his brother, Makram Guirgus. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton with burial in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home.
