Edgar West

Edgar West, 70 of Hardeeville, SC passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, SC. He was born in Savannah, GA on February 6, 1943 to the late Edgar West and Edna Christy West. He was a retired Ironworker and had been a member of the Ironworker Local Union #709 for 43 years. He served as a business manager of the union for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Hardeeville Masonic Lodge #348 and a member of the Alee Shrine Temple of Savannah, GA. He was a US Army veteran. He attended the Red Dam Baptist Church; he loved his grandchildren and enjoyed rebuilding old automobiles. He is survived by his wife, Pamela E. West of Hardeeville, SC; his sons, Mitchell Dale West (April) of Hephzibah, GA and Johnny West of Savannah, GA; one daughter, Cheryl Fortson (Ivan) of Rincon, GA; one brother, William "˜Billy' West (Linda) of Bloomingdale, GA; eight grandchildren, Savannah, David W. Haley, David B., Christina, Little Miles, Colleen and Matthew and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister in law, Robert and Joanne West. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Red Dam Baptist Church, Hardeeville, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 pm at the church.
