Edward Hammarth of Bluffton, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born on December 2, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Edward A. Hammarth and Pauline Fisher Hammarth. Devoted husband to Terese Stemmler Hammarth (the love of his life).
He was a devoted husband/father/grandfather/great grandfather who is survived by his son Ward Hammarth (and his wife Karen) and two daughters - Chrissie Hammarth Poore (and her husband Pete) and Susan Hammarth Roberts. He had 7 grandchildren: Christopher Poore, Erin Poore Bitz, Matthew Hammarth, Jared Hammarth, Caitlin Hammarth Montejo, Austin Roberts and Beau Roberts. He also had 6 great grand children: Cashton Bitz, Skylar Bitz, Peyton Hammarth, Sophia Hammarth, Tviska Roberts and Freya Roberts. He is also survived by his sister in law Catherine Frain. He is predeceased by his wife Terese Stemmler Hammarth, his parents and two brothers: Robert (Chuck) Hammarth and George Hammarth.
He proudly served in the US Navy during WW II and was devoted to the Catholic Church his entire life.
The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Hospice or to St Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton South Carolina (https://sggcc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/210/responses/new)
