Edward J. Hansen

Edward J. Hansen, 86, of Hilton Head, SC died Monday, February 29, 2016 at his home. Mr. Hansen was born on October 7, 1929 in Springfield, MO and grew up in Erie, PA, the son of the late Edward Hans Hansen and Polly Melissa Van Kamp Hansen. He was a graduate of Penn State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He spent his career in Cranford, NJ working as a chemical engineer. While living in New Jersey he was a member of many boards and was a fire commissioner. Outside of work and civic involvement he was an avid golfer, tennis player, loved Penn State football, the New York Mets, and the New York Giants. Edward was always known for a healthy welcome, good joke, and of course, the cigar. Mr. Hansen is survived by his daughter, Ann Hansen of Port Leyden, NY; sons, Paul Hansen of Belton, TX and Jim Hansen of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Richard Cameron of Hilton Head, SC, Heidi Hansen of Amesbury, MA, Gabriela Hansen of Belton, TX, and Carolina Hansen of Belton, TX. He will truly be missed, but his personality will transcend generations and be remembered as a loving person. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
