Edward John Markham Jr.

Edward John Markham Jr., 84, passed away on the Prinsendam Holland America, on Sunday, January 3, 2010.He was born in Norwich, CT on May 9, 1925. He was the son of the late Edward John and Mary Augusta Driscoll Markham Sr.He was a retired Lt. Colonel, United States Marine Corps. He was a system analyst for Travelers Insurance and Nabisco. He was a resource manager for AVCO-Lycoming. He was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was a writer who won awards for his work. He wrote technical papers for the Federal Government. He also wrote plays, essays, poetry and was working on a novel. He received his undergraduate from Dartmouth and his masters in business administration from the University of Michigan.He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Markham of Bluffton, SC; three sons, Edward J. Markham III of Los Angles, CA, Robert Whitbread from Fairfield, CT and Thomas (Kathleen) Whitbread of Clinton, CT; two daughters, Patricia (Domenico) Squicciarini of Amityville, NY and Pamela (Samad) Aghamohammadi of Southbury, CT; grandchildren, Isabella Squicciarini, Helena (Adam) Divito, James Squicciarini, Michael (Shauna) Trunzo, Parissa, Ryan and Daniel Aghamohammadi, Matthew and Samuel Whitbread and Allyson Currier.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2010 with burial in Low Country Memorial Gardens, Bluffton, SC. The family will receive friends at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC from 4 til 6 pm on Friday, January 8, 2010.
