Edward Marsee

January 7, 1943 — October 31, 2020

Edward Marsee, age 77 of Bluffton, SC died on October 31 st , 2020 in Savannah, GA after a brief illness.

Ed was born in Middlesboro, KY the son of Arthur and Edna (nee Jenkins). In 1960 he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served as a navy corpsman from 1960-1965. His last duty station was St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, NY.

He settled in Bergen County, NJ, married and raised his oldest sons, Michael and David. He worked at Valley Fair, a regional department store and grocery, or as he liked to call it, the first Walmart! He attended Montclair State College at night where he earned his BS in accounting.

Fate intervened in 1975 when he was transferred to the new Jersey City store where he met Barbara, his loving wife of 40 years. He switched careers in 1979 and became an accountant for an international freight forwarding and customs clearance broker.  In 1985 Ed and Barbara welcomed their son Matthew.

Ed climbed the corporate ladder and became CFO of the American division. His job required travel, which he hated, mostly because it took him away from his family. Barbara would usually pack a box of granola bars to sustain him on the longer trips…he was NOT an adventurous eater!

In 1995 Ed and Barbara built their “dream home” and moved to Freehold, NJ  and Ed left corporate life for private practice. His business grew quickly by word of mouth. His clients were treated like old friends.

Ed hated being cold, so when all 3 boys moved South it was time to follow.  Ed and Barbara started a new chapter in their fairytale life in Bluffton, SC a four hour drive to Michael and Matthew in Charlotte and a 6 hour drive to David in Florida. There they lived “happily ever after" watching birds and alligators in the lagoon, taking long walks on tree-lined paths, visiting with family and friends and dancing to 80’s music whenever they could.

In addition to his wife and 3 sons, Ed is survived by his 5 grandchildren, his brothers Roy and Bobbie, sisters Lois, Joyce and Linda and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Ed is predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Charles.
