​Edward Matthews

Edward Matthews, 70, of Pineland, SC, husband of Mary Alice Thomas Matthews, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Matthews was born on March 10, 1947 in Lancaster, SC to the late Warren G. Matthews and Alene Matthews. He was a carpenter and home builder and a member of Pine Level Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, growing flowers in his garden, and loved watching western movies on T.V.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Mr. Matthews is survived by his son, Jammie Matthews (Denise) of Bluffton, SC; daughters, Mary Cole (Brandon) of Ft. Gibson, OK and Jennie Matthews of Pineland, SC; three brothers, Robert Matthews (Shirley) of Rock Hill, NC, Ray Matthews (Via) of Beaufort, SC, and Glenn Matthews of Kershaw, SC; three sisters, Betty Ray (Dale), Brenda Williams (Mike), and Shirley Ray (Matthew), all of Kershaw, SC; six grandchildren, Anthony Dyer, Paige Hudson (Travis), C.J. Cole, Ashley Damron (Bruce), Donald Grantham, Jr., Danielle Grantham, and K.C. Bowen; and four great-grandchildren, A.J. Dyer, Austin Hudson, Keon Bowen, and Noah Grantham.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Pine Level Baptist Church, 2009 Pine Level Church Rd, Early Branch, SC, followed by burial in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon until 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at their home.
