Edward David Rielly

Edward David Rielly, 71 of Westport and Plattsburgh, NY passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011 in Hilton Head Island, SC.Ed was born August 1, 1939 in Plattsburgh, NY. He grew up in Upper Jay, NY, the son of Edward and Ethel (Prentiss) Rielly. He attended Ausable Valley High School, and graduated from Union College in 1961. He retired from his position as Resident Engineer for Region 1 at the NYS Department of Transportation in 1998.He married Linda Howe of New Britain, Connecticut in 1967, and he and his family moved to their lakeside home in Westport in 1971, where they resided for over 30 years. He enjoyed being outdoor, playing tennis, downhill and cross country skiing, piloting his small plane over the Champlain valley, boating, his prized antique cars, and spending time with his friends and family.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda, now residing in Plattsburgh, his children Kimberly Rielly and her husband Kevin Boyle of Westport, Jennifer Rielly of Moriah and Alison Rielly and her longtime companion Travis Bogart of Waddington, NY; sisters Elaine Cosgrove and Judy Salisbury, brother and sister in law Carl and Ora Rielly and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 15, 2011 at Westport Federated Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed
