Edward Lee Shinabarger

Edward Lee Shinabarger, 70, of Bluffton, SC passed away comfortably in his home surrounded by family on Saturday, July 11, 2020. He was born on July 17, 1949 in LaPorte, IN to Robert and Lucille (Hosier) Shinabarger. Ed graduated from Griffith High School in 1968 and earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Purdue University in 1975 after serving in the US Army in the Vietnam War. His professional career spanned 40 years, beginning in Logansport, Indiana and retiring in 2015 with CVS Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, IN.

While this was his profession, his true joy was spending time with friends and family especially his one true love and high school sweetheart Cheryl Ann (Wampler) Shinabarger. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Whether it was on the golf course, relaxing with a book, traveling the world or watching his kids play sports, Ed was always found with a warm smile and a kind heart.

Surviving are his loving wife, Cheryl Ann Shinabarger of Bluffton, SC; children, Drs. Andrew B. (Kelsey) Shinabarger of Portland, OR; Matthew E. Shinabarger of Fort Wayne, IN; Sally A. (Matthieu) Shinabarger of Zurich, Switzerland; brother Rob (Robin) Shinabarger of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Karen (David) Pratt of Utica, OH; Joni Fetla of Leander, TX; and a granddaughter Evelyn S. Shinabarger.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. and Lucille W. Shinabarger.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC 29910. For those unable to attend in person, the service will also be live streamed below.
