Edythe K. Renick, 92 years old, passed peacefully April 10 at The Palmettos, Bluffton, SC. Born in The Bronx, NY, to Charles and Lillian Koehler, Edythe lived most of her adult life in Mahopac, NY. She worked as a secretary in law firms in New York City before children and later as an Executive Secretary for Union Carbide in Tarrytown, NY. After the passing of the love of her life, her husband Stephen, in 1997, she moved to Sun City, Bluffton, SC. In 2013, The Seabrook on Hilton Head Island, SC until her move to Palmettos earlier this year.
Edythe made friends wherever she went and was a generous and loving person. Her upbeat personality and positive attitude were a most positive attribute. Edythe went to great lengths to attend many of her grandchildren’s activities and school events. She enjoyed playing many games and especially enjoyed teaching Mah Jongg to the residents of The Seabrook.
Edythe is survived by her daughter Virginia Sandquist (Richard) of Hilton Head Island and Stephen Jr. (Diane) of Clermont, FL; grandchildren Patrick Sandquist (Julia), Stephen Renick III (Jessica) and Kristin Cowman (Daniel) and 2 great grandchildren.
Per her wishes, there will be no services, no fuss and no grieving. Interment will be next to her husband in Hartsdale, NY as soon as possible. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Seabrook Foundation, 300 Woodhaven Dr, Hilton Head, SC 29928 are encouraged.
