Effie B. Connelly Barton

Effie B. Connelly Barton, 86, widow of Mauriece H. Barton, Sr., died Monday, March 10, 2014 in the Ridgeland Nursing Center in Ridgeland, SC She was born in Hardeeville, SC on September 18, 1927 to the late Raymond Charles Connelly and Lily Woods Connelly. She was a Homemaker and Caregiver; a member of Coosawhatchie Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible School Director, Women's Missionary Union leader and choir member. She is survived by her sons, Mauriece H. (Reese) Barton (Wanda) of Orangeburg, SC; Kenneth Barton (Elaine) of Bluffton, SC; David Barton (Brenda) of Coosawhatchie, SC; Stanley Barton (Sharon) of Islandton, SC; daughters, Gloria Armstead (Skip) of Coosawhatchie, SC; Sally Ann Brabham (Bruce) of Tillman, SC; brother, Charles Connelly (Annie Lee) of Beaufort, SC; sisters, Jean Stanley of Yemassee, SC; Euldine Sokol (Richard) of Merritt Island, FL.; Fifteen grandchildren and forty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, J. N. Connelly, Clifford Connelly and sisters, Caulie Connelly, Bessie Lee Sauls and Margie Mixson. Funeral services will be held beginning 11:00 am on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Coosawhatchie Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the church. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family with their arrangements.
