Effie Ruth Hudson Altman, 77, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She was born in Cummings, SC on April 24, 1937 to the late Daniel Benjamin Hudson and Leila Ethel Crosby Hudson. She was a private duty home healthcare provider. She worked as a seamstress for several years for Holiday Wear Manufacturing. She was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as Sunday school secretary and wrote cards and letters to members and their families. She was an avid sports fan and supported her children in all their sports. She was the Number one Thomas Heyward Academy sports fan and she loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Wilton Ellis Altman of Ridgeland, SC; sons, Troy Ellis Altman (Trish) of Ridgeland, SC; Benjamin Wilton Altman (Lise) of Hardeeville, SC; sisters, Thelma Dell Padgett of Varnville, SC; Helen Marie Mixson of Jacksonville, FL; Joan Elisabeth Bishop of Early Branch, SC; Janelle Maxine Bishop of Jesup, GA; Ethylene Fisk (Marshall) of Beaufort, SC; Catherine Ann Whittington (Mickey) of Varnville, SC; Pearl Malphrus of Bluffton, SC; brothers, Daniel Benjamin Hudson (Patricia) of Summerville, SC; Clarence Herman Hudson of Haines City, FL; grandson, Brian Altman; granddaughter, Courtney Altman and great granddaughter, Ella Grace Kendricks.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Great Swamp Baptist Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the hour of service at the church.
