Effie Kay Moon made an earthly transition at her home on September 8, 2025. She saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, …” Revelation 21:4.
Effie was born to the late Alvin and Eura Jones, of Rustburg, VA on December 8, 1939. She was the eighth of twelve children. She moved to Hartford, CT with her sister, Martha Marie Clarke, and graduated from Campbell County High School and from New Hampshire College in 1982. She met and married Herbert H. They were an integral part of the Sun City, Bluffton Community. Her hobbies included golfing, watching jeopardy, and collecting clocks. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Effie was a Christian and lifelong church member. Her early years of biblical teaching came from New Free Springs Baptist Church in Rustburg, VA, then Shiloh Baptist in Hartford, CT and finally Campbell Chapel in Bluffton, SC. At Campbell she has been the administrative assistant to five pastors and gave excellent service. She was a member of many boards and auxiliaries, steward emeritus, stewardship and finance commission, church school, bible study, lay organization, Women’s Missionary Society and the president of the Couple’s Ministry.
Effie was a member of several organizations which included by not limited to the Circlets, which she was a chartered member and president, SWAP (Sisters with a Purpose), CHUMs and DAV (Disable American Veterans) Women’s Auxiliary.
