With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eileen A. Gibbs, nee Duffy, 75, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Eileen passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 30, 2025.
Born on August 4, 1949 the fourth of six children to Kathryn and William Duffy in Kenmore NY. A graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School, Eileen had a career as a paralegal in Manlius NY after obtaining her paralegal degree from LeMoyne College. They are residents of Riverbend, part of Sun City since 2006.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald; brother Mark; children Brendan, Alexis, and Kathryn and grandchildren Grace and Zoe (Sheppard) and Benjamin (Plank) along with many wonderful friends and extended family. Eileen will be missed by so many, as she made a friend of everyone she met; from her school years to her kids’ school years, to work colleagues and neighbors.
Eileen was known for her amazing baking skills and creative endeavors, many of which still decorate her house. She never took life for granted, always seeing the positive in every situation and, despite many challenges, never falling into self-pity. Her love for her family, her humor, and her card playing skills will live on.
A celebration of her life will be held at Frankie Bones in Bluffton on Saturday May 24th.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
