Elaine Margaret Hastings

Elaine Margaret (Graham) Hastings of Hilton Head Island (originally Chicago, Illinois) passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021. She was in the comfort of her home, and surrounded by her family. The Hilton Head house was Elaine’s favorite place. She spent her last moments there with the ones she loved by the floor to ceiling windows, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and with her grandbaby blowing her kisses.

Elaine was the beloved wife and “sneetie” of Patrick Timothy Hastings for 45 years. Their marriage was strong and admired by all. Her children Patrick (Julie) Hastings and Allison (Richard) Vigil adored her. Elaine took pride in being a Nonna to her little Sully Bear.  She was loved dearly by Liv and Trent Nelson; precious daughter of the late Myron and Anna Graham; loving sister of the late Katherine (the late Daniel) McGrath, and the late Della Graham; treasured daughter-in-law to the late Kathryn Hastings, sister-in-law of Mary (Gordon) Satera, Billy Hastings, the late Michael (the late Pam) Hastings, Jimmy (Shelly) Hastings, beloved aunt to many.

She dedicated her life to the service of others in the field of nursing and was an invaluable mentor to many. It was her resilience that made her so fierce; because of this, she was honest and true through the very end. Elaine was a dear wife, caring mother, loving friend, and strong mentor. She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. She was hard as nails with a heart of gold and will be truly missed by everyone.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton SC 29910.

A Celebration of Life is being scheduled for the weekend of January 28, 2022 in Illinois (details to follow).
