Elinor Palmer Golson, 60, died Tuesday, November 24, at her residence in Alexandria, Virginia. She was the daughter of Charles O. Golson, Jr. and Elinor Stiles Golson of Savannah. Palmer was a graduate of the Savannah Country Day School and Hollins College. After graduation she worked for Coastal Georgia Historical Society on the first restoration project of the St. Simons Island lighthouse. She also worked for the Ships of the Sea Museum prior to moving to Alexandria where she began a career of over thirty years with the US China Business Council in Washington, DC.
She is survived by two brothers, Charles Golson III (Nancy) of Bluffton, SC and Hugh Stiles Golson of Savannah; a nephew, W. Palmer Golson (Marti) of Bluffton and a niece, Margaret Golson Pearman (Chris) of Ridgeland, SC; two great nephews, William and Henry Golson, and a great niece, Elinor May Pearman.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 7th at 10:00am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Abercorn and 34th Streets, Savannah, followed by internment at Greenwich Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hollins University, 7916 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
