Ellen Jane (Knick) Slayton

December 18, 1942 — January 20, 2022

On Thursday morning, January 20th, 2022, Ellen Jane Slayton went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Carl. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her daughters, Janet Gereige and Lisa Wando, her grandchildren, Robert Gereige, Jean-Claude Gereige, Lana Wando, Mireille Wando, Caleb Wando, Caroline Wando and Susanna Wando, her son-in-law Thomas Wando will miss her immensely.

From our youth, I can remember, she was the one kissing our hurts, caring for us when we felt unwell, gathering us up under her wings when we needed protection, and alleviating us of our fears. She gave us her heart and her love, day after day, until the end, when you left us. Your spirit and your grace will be with us always.

You were a marvelous wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed in words that cannot be described. Rest In Peace, mommy, mamou, grandma and mom.

The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is ‘Mother’. It is a word full of hope and love, a word coming from the depths of the heart. Our mommy was everything, our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery and our strength in weakness.  Mommy was the source of love, mercy, sympathy and forgiveness. ~Khalil Gibran

“My Lord and God, give me everything that brings me closer to you. Take from me everything that distances me from you.” St Nicholas of Flue

“The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.” - Jack London.Sep 1, 2021

“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you” Isaiah 66:13a

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her” Proverbs 31:31

Jane said to at least a couple of people close to her that she would be walking in less than 30 days. That was roughly two weeks before she walked in through Heavens’ gate…
