Emma Walker Girimont

Emma Walker Girimont passed away peacefully at home with her family and caregivers by her side. Emma was 89. Born and raised in West Virginia, she spent most of her adult life in Richmond, Va, as a devoted wife and mother. She was an amazing cook and took great pride in providing the best meals and home life one could ask for. Early in her marriage she learned how to make spaghetti and meat balls and homemade Italian bread from her Italian mother-in-law - who didn't speak English. After the sudden passing of her son David, she and her husband, John, moved to Hilton Head Island to be near their girls. Emma eventually began working for a local real estate company, RBC Enterprises, where she dedicated many years to providing concierge services to Ocean Palms owners. She became affectionately known as "Mrs. G." Emma's pastimes included trying new recipes, working in her flower garden and certainly shopping for perfectly coordinated outfits. She was also a true animal lover with a soft heart. But her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David, her husband John, and her son-in-law, Russ Brown. Due to her declining health, daughter Denise and her husband Joe, asked her to move-in with them and for the next six years Emma's life was enriched by her wonderful caregivers, Carolina and Glenda. Emma is survived by her two daughters, Dottie Brown and Denise Agee, son-in-law Joe Agee, five grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Lindsey Harrell (husband Wade), David Agee (wife Rachael), and Jenn and Kristen Agee. Emma also had two great-grandchildren, Wren and Russell Harrell. Although she loved flowers, she would have preferred any contributions or gifts on her behalf to go to either the Hilton Head Humane Association or The Patriot Foundation, a non-profit that aids families of wounded warriors, since she lost a brother and brother-in-law in WWII.
