Emmett L. Dineen, 83, of Bluffton, SC died March 6, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on May 4, 1930 in Chicago, IL the son of the late James Francis and Della Altieri Dineen.
He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. In his professional life Mr. Dineen was a former Vice President of the Chicago Merchandise Mart and then went on to become President of the International Design Center New York. He and his wife had a home in Port Royal Plantation, Hilton Head from 1987 to 1995. They returned to the area in 2001 to live in Bluffton.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; 2 daughters, Stephanie Dalton (Mark) of Winfield, IL and Sheila (Brent) Rumsey of Highlands Ranch, CO; a brother, Edward Dineen (Marilyn) of Oak Lawn, IL; a sister Grace Ann Kartheiser of Chicago, IL and 5 grandchildren, Meghan Dalton, Michael Dalton, Gena Rumsey, Emily Rumsey, and Jessica Rumsey.
Emmett was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 14, 2014.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to either the American Cancer Sociey, 11 Mallett Way, Bluffton, SC 29910 or to Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
