Emory Howard Kimball, 94, died on July 6, 2012 at Savannah Memorial Hospital, GA after a fall in his home on Hilton Head Island, SC. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Charlotte Jean Stoneberg Kimball and a brother Vernon Wertley Kimball. The son of George Fred Kimball and Pauline Fisher Murch Kimball, he was born August 24, 1917 in Portland, ME. After graduation from the University of New Hampshire, he was employed as a chemical engineer by the Monsanto Company and worked at facilities in St. Louis, Louisiana, and Delaware. Upon commissioning in the US Army, he participated in Allied operations in Italy and retired from the US Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is survived by his son Bruce Howard Kimball (Marietta) of Hilton Head Island, daughters Susan Jean Kimball Anderson (Holt) of Durham, NC, and Martha Kylen Kimball Johnson of San Jose, CA, and grandchildren Braden Peter Kimball (Maresa), Eric Bruce Kimball, William Holt Anderson III, John Kimball Anderson, Jenny Kylen Johnson, and James Edward Johnson III. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.He will be inurned with his wife at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
