Ernest Gary Tate Jr.

Ernest Gary Tate, Jr., 90 of Ridgeland, SC passed away today, December 31, 2014 at his home. He was born in Taylors, SC on March 02, 1924 to the late Ernest Gary and Alva Ross Tate. He was a Clemson University Extension Agent for Jasper County for 35 years; long time Manager of Spring Hill Hunting Club; member, St. Paul's United Methodist Church; US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII where he served as a Navigator; founding member of Sgt. Jasper Country Club and was club champion several times; recipient of the SC Golf Association Ambassador Award for lifetime contribution and achievement for the game of golf; nationally recognized turkey caller; avid outdoorsman and an avid Clemson fan. He is survived by his son, Gary Randall Tate of Savannah, GA; daughter, Gail T. Blackmon (Puggy) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Dr. Ashley B. Jones (Jared) of Columbia, SC; Jordan Blackmon of Los Angeles, CA; Tate Blackmon (Randi) of Columbia, SC; two great granddaughters, Bailey and Piper Jones. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ridgeland. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am at the church until the hour of the service. Burial will follow the service in Ridgeland Cemetery. Sauls Funeral Home, Ridgeland.
