Esther Mullaly

Esther Mullaly July 31,1937 - September 7,2024 Esther passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 87. Born in Queens NY to Italian immigrants, she went on to graduate Queens College and began teaching first grade in the public school system in The Bronx in the early 60's. She soon married, had 3 children, all boys, and moved to the suburbs of New Jersey. As a Homemaker and Mom, she also managed to become the most popular substitute teacher in the local grammar schools getting to know all of the families in town. She later went on to have a very successful career as an administrative manager in the insurance industry until she retired to Sun City Hilton Head. Several family members and close lifelong friends followed South and have since spent the last 25 years together enjoying life. Esther loved playing Tennis, Golf & Pickleball, played Mahjong and many card games, as well as traveling the world, while still finding the time to volunteer at the local schools, reading to the children. She especially enjoyed Food of all kinds, dining out and more importantly cooking for family and friends. She lived life to its fullest! Esther is survived by her 3 sons Michael (Laura), Kevin and Brian (Denise) 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. There will be a service Thursday 9/26 1030 at St Gregory the Great in Bluffton. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
