Mrs. Etoile V. Smitke

Etoile (Edie) Smitke passed away November 26, 2013 at Hilton Head Hospital. She was a recent resident at Bloom of Hilton Head, and had previously resided at Indigo Pines and Hawthorne Inn. Edie was born in West Frankfort, IL to parents Edd and Jewell Vineyard. She was married to Raymond Smitke. She was a legal secretary at Western Electric division of AT&T, and retired after 35 years of service in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brothers Jean Vineyard and Clyde Vineyard. She is survived by her brothers, Houston Vineyard of Fairview Heights, IL, Frank Vineyard of Geyserville, CA, Richard Vineyard of Union Grove, WI, and sister, Carmen MacGregor of Bluffton. She is also survived by her step-children, Raymond Smitke of Portland, OR, Carol Kraker, of Bayville, NJ and Susan Schmid of Santa Barbara, CA. Three grandsons, three granddaughters, five nieces and 14 nephews, in addition to her special caregivers, Cresenda Elam and Wanda Stimpson, who also mourn her passing. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. A memorial service will be held at a later date in West Frankfort, IL.
