Eugene Raymond Matthews, Jr., 61 of Okatie, SC passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home.He was born in Camp Lejeune, NC on August 13, 1951 the son of the late Eugene Raymond and Ann Collins Matthews.He was an US Air Force Veteran. He worked as a nuclear power engineer. He enjoyed fishing and golf.He is survived by his wife, Mary Matthews of Gahanna, OH; his sons, Richard R. Matthews of Rincon, GA and Eugene Raymond Matthews, III of Ohio; daughters Sylvia Matthews of Ohio, Olivia Matthews of Ohio, Erica Matthews of Ohio, and Tanya Matthews-Truett (Sam) of Bluffton, SC; and brothers Edward Matthews (Brenda) of Okatie, SC and David Matthews of Bluffton, SC.The family will receive friends from 6 til 8 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.The family requests memorial gifts be made in memory of Eugene Raymond Matthews Jr. to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
