Evelyn Dempewolf passed away after a short battle with cancer. The daughter of pioneers, she was born in Sweetwater, Texas on October 5, 1924. Until her husband died in 1979, she was a homemaker and involved mother. At age 56 she began a career with the Princess Cruise Lines. As a nationally ranked duplicate bridge master, she was a lecturer. During the following 15 years, she visited almost every country in the world. She moved to Hilton Head Island in 1990 and lived in Sea Pines. After retiring from her travels, she worked as the weekend receptionist for the Sea Pines Welcome Center for 10 years. She was the only part-time employee to be named Employee of the year. At age 79 she retired for the last time.She is survived by her daughter Sally and her husband, Tom, her son Chuck and his wife, Jan, granddaughters Elizabeth and Brooke and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private.
