Everett Eugene Smith 77, of Grays, SC passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at his home.He was born on March 14, 1931 in Grays, SC. He was a son of the late J. Lee and Nora E. Smith. He was a graduate of Grays High School and served his country in the US Army and then was employed in Civil Service at MCAS Beaufort until he retired in 1989. He was a long time and faithful member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, Treasurer and Deacon.He married Edna Walsh Smith on June 10, 1955 and they lived and raised their 5 children in Grays, SC.He will be forever loved by his wife, Edna W. Smith and children, Eugene E. (Karen) Smith, Brenda (Gary) Perkins, Margaret E. Smith, Anthony W. Smith and Alan L. Smith; grandchildren, Tina M. Smith, Kevin L. (Joy) Smith and Michael W. (Alisha) Lemocks and 6 great grandchildren; a brother, William L. (Johnnie) Smith; a sister, Sarah Grooms and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend special thanks to a special friend of the family, Sherry Sloss, for the special care she gave him. The family wishes to thank the staff of Tidewater Hospice and the doctors and nurses of Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Dr. Lucius Laffitte, Dr. Clark Trask and Dr. Lafrancise for their kindness and care.Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Grays, SC with interment in Beaver Dam Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland, SC.Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.saulsfh.com)
