Florencia R. Gumtang Rabara

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Florencia Rabara, born in Cayambanan, Philippines on June 1, 1941, and departed from this world on September 28, 2023, in Ridgeland, SC. She was preceded in death by her cherished children, Annie and Mars, her brother Romualdo Gumtang, and her cousin Gelly Gumtang.

Florencia's journey began in the Philippines, where she was raised alongside her six beloved siblings. It was in her homeland that she crossed paths with her loving husband, Marcelino Rabara, and laid the foundation of her family. Midway through her life, Florencia displayed remarkable courage by relocating her family to the United States, seeking better opportunities. She resided in Rockville, MD, before retiring with her husband in Ridgeland, SC.

Florencia was a pillar of love and devotion in her roles as a wife, mother, and sister. She was a hardworking woman who held an immense affection for her family and friends. She had a love for cooking, and she welcomed everyone who entered her home with open arms, making them feel part of the family. While she possessed a strong-willed and sometimes stubborn nature, her heart was eternally generous. Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt.

A viewing in remembrance of Florencia's life will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC, followed by Mass at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend this celebration of Florencia's life.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered their support, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. In honor of Florencia's memory, contributions can be made either by sending flowers or by donating to Saint Vincent de Paul and Local Charities at St. Gregory the Great Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton, SC 29910, in Florencia's name.

Florencia’s legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
