Francis “Bud” C. Brien, 82, of Bluffton, SC. passed away peacefully at his home on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the son of Clarence Brien and Helen Weilbrenner. Born on October 14, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Bud graduated from Lowell High School in 1960, where he earned his ROTC certificate. He went on to attend Fitchburg State College and began his career in education at Lowell High School, where he taught woodworking shop classes-sharing his craftsmanship and passion for working with his hands. Bud later transitioned into a successful career as a Senior Engineer, contributing to important military contract work. Despite his professional achievements, he never strayed far from his roots in carpentry. A Master Woodworker, Bud found joy in crafting beautiful tables, pens, cutting boards and furniture. His pieces reflected the same care and precision he showed in every aspect of life. He was a devoted member of the Church of the Cross in Bluffton, SC and a man whose faith, integrity, and warmth touched everyone who knew him. Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roberta Brien, who passed away January 11, 2022. He is survived by his two sons, Keith Brien and wife Kate of Woburn, Massachusetts and Paul Brien of Sierra Vista, Arizona, as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many cherished friends. Bud often said he wanted to leave this world a better place than he found it-and he did. Through his kindness, wisdom, and generosity, he touched countless hearts. His legacy lives on in every life he impacted, and in the love he gave so freely. A funeral service will be held August 8, 2025 at 11:00AM, located at 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC
