Francis Edward (Pete) Mershon

Francis Edward (Pete) Mershon, 83, died Friday, October 19, 2007 in the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, Hilton Head Island, SC.He was born in Newark, NJ on October 26, 1923. He was the son of the late George and Florence White Mershon.He was a Labor Representative with the United Auto Workers. He was a Catholic and attended Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was an avid sportsman and coached Little League Baseball for many years. He was a semi pro ball player and was active in the Democratic party.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol-Joyce Mershon of Bluffton, SC; one son, Michael (Kandace) Mershon of Edgewater, MD; one daughter, Linda (Bill) Murphy of Morrisville, NC; and five grandchildren, Morgan, Courtney, Whitney, Hayley Mershon and Drew Kimm.The family will receive friends from 3 til 5 pm, Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC with a Wake Service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, Research Foundation, 919 North Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC is assisting the family with their arrangements.
