Francis Carl Slayton, 74, of Bluffton, died May 28, 2013 at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.
He was born on August 31, 1938 in Farmville, Virginia the son of the late Joshua Leonard and Pattie Odelle Slayton.
He was a US Public Health Officer at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC. He was a member of St. Luke's Untied Methodist Church and sang with St. Luke's Chancel Singers. He was a member and Chaplin with the Hardeeville Masonic Lodge. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
He is survived by his wife E. Jane Slayton of Bluffton, SC; daughters Janet Leigh Gereige of Switzerland and Lisa Carol Wando (Thomas) of Hopkinton, NH; sister, Peggy Cartwright-Owens (George) of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren Robert Gereige, Jean-Claude Gereige, Lana Wando, Mereille Wando, Caleb Wando, Caroline Wando and Susanna Wando. He was predeceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3080 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Monday, June 3, 2013 with Masonic Rites at 7:30pm at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
