Frank Larry Fender

September 1, 1952 — December 14, 2017

Frank Larry Fender, born September 1, 1952, passed away peacefully at MUSC surrounded by family December 14, 2017. Frank was a Lowcountry native that settled in Hardeeville. He was well known by his middle name, Larry or Capt’n Frank. Anyone who knows Capt’n Frank knows why he was called Captain Frank. He was sought after for his skill in the construction and site prep industry. Frank has, for sure, left his mark on many building projects in this area. Frank was a dedicated craftsman. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, liked to spend what time he could with that or anything that had to do with civil war. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tammy Williams Fender, his son Jeremy Fender, his daughters April Bakken, Jessica Bradshaw, Crystal Williams (Willie Hodge), Ashley Fender (Jessie Gore), and Hannah Fender (Walter Lafler), and 8 grandchildren Patrick Hodge, Marissa Hodge, Ava Hodge, Nathan Gore, Maddux Gore, Logan Gore, Shelby Nixon, Wyatt Gore, Conner Phillips, and Lily Lafler. He was also survived by his mother Tillie Fender, his brother Mack Fender (Julie Fender), sisters Jackie Prescott and Sherri Emanuel (Robert Emanuel). He was preceded in death by his son Christopher “Ryan” Fender, his father Jack Fender, and his brother Bruce Fender. He was also survived by his companion, Buster, his dog. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, December 23rd, 2017 at 3:00 PM at 2858 South Okatie Hwy, Hardeeville, SC 29927. The spreading of Frank’s ashes will take place at his garden in the Spring, details TBA.
