Frank Addison (Pete) Abbott Ii

Frank Addison (Pete) Abbott II passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 26, 2013. Pete was born in Brooklyn NY on July 21,1942. He was raised for a time in Calcutta, India and attended the Loretta House Catholic School there. He continued his education in the States at the Boarding School at Stanford Prep in Delaware, the Dwight School for Boys in New York City, and Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. Pete always had a passion for flying, owning his first airplane at age nineteen. He pursued a flying career, which continued for thirty-eight years in both corporate and commercial aviation. He retired from North American Airlines, where he flew Boeing 757's, in 2003. Pete also served proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank A Abbott and Anita Backus Abbott of Buffalo NY and by Janet Mariner Abbott, the mother of his children Frank A Abbott III and Catherine Giansiracusa. He is also survived by his daughter in law Cindy Abbott and son in law Paul Giansiracusa as well as four grandchildren, Reilly Abbott, Frank A Abbott IV, Abby Giansiracusa, and Thomas Giansiracusa all of Connecticut. Other beloved members of his family include his sisters Patricia Barden of Washington DC, Joan Kafcas of Chicago IL and many nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to recognize Pete's dearest friend Ruby Thompson of Bluffton who he cared for deeply and who cared for him before and during his illness. Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Chapel on Pinckney Colony Road at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 30, 2013. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Capital Needs Fund, Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29909. Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton, SC Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrewâ
