Fred Clare Headley

Fred Clare Headley, Jr., 80, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SC.He was born in Rahway, NJ on August 10, 1932 to the late Fred C. Headley, Sr. and Helen Anderson Headley.He was a retired US Army Lt. Colonel; Veteran of Korea and Vietnam, Bronze Star Recipient with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Purple Heart recipient from Vietnam; Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters and a recipient of the Legion of Merit Award. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the State of Virginia as a Federal Programs Coordinator. He was a member of Grace Community Church.He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia Yaughn Headley of Bluffton, SC; three sons, Fred C. Headley, III of New Jersey; Kent (April) Headley of Richmond, VA; Todd (Kari) Hiers of Flowery Branch, GA; two daughters, Patti H. (David) Stephens of New Jersey; Linda Tortorici of NC: grandchildren, Mistica, Jessica, Rebecca, Megan, Samantha, D.J., Cameron, Katie, Sydney, Elise, Michelle, Kevin, Jackie, Anthony and Eric Headley. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Headley and sisters, Helen Lewis and Claire Cahill.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Grace Community Church.
