Frederick K. Gumpf

October 31, 1931 — June 23, 2015

Frederick K Gumpf, 83 of Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina passed away on June 23, 2015. As a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, he was born and raised in Beaver Falls, PA. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School Class of 1949 and Geneva College, Fred graduated with a degree in engineering. He was the son of the late Frederick and Minnie Gumpf and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lenore McKinney and Roberta Strub (Paul) and his brother, Walter McDonough. He is survived by his wife Coyla Cantwell Gumpf, a daughter, Christine Bluedorn (Carl) of Beaver, PA, a son, Jerry Gumpf (Terri) of Moon Twp, PA, and a stepson, Chad Brognano of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Courtney and Chelsea Gumpf and Melissa and Jeff Bluedorn, his mother in law, Doris Cantwell and her family of Darlington, PA. Fred was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of American Legion Post 19, the Veterans Association of Sun City as well as several committees within Sun City.He held leadership positions in many organizations including Beaver Valley and Seven Oaks Country Clubs. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America achieving Eagle Scout. In 1972, after employment in several engineering companies, Fred founded the construction/consulting firm of Gumpf Engineering, Inc. in New Brighton and Beaver, PA. A life membership has been held in both the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He enjoyed tennis, golf and skiing with his many friends, especially at his resort home in Hidden Valley, PA. There was only one football team......"the Steelers!" A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, PA on Thursday July 16th at 6 PM.
