Frederick J. Schattall

Frederick Julius Schattall, 74, of Bluffton, SC passed away June 25, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

Fred was born July 1, 1947 in Baltimore, MD to the late Julius F. Schattall and Liesolotte Kimmel Schattall. He worked as a computer technician and later started a lawn and landscaping business with his sons in Maryland. Fred loved to golf and found great fun in being the cruise director for Corvettes of Hilton Head, traveling as far as St. Petersburg, FL! He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hardeeville, SC.

Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl Olszewski Schattall; sons, Christopher (Kelly) of Upperco, MD and Carl (Laurie) of Perry Hall, MD; sister, Stephanie Rohe (Ed) of Dagsboro, DE; and five grandchildren, Connor, Gavin, Hallie, Samuel, and Nathaniel.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Saint Anthony Mission Catholic Church, 23049 Whyte Hardee Blvd in Hardeeville, SC. A reception will follow at the Parish Center nearby, at 21 Main St., across from the Hardeeville Library.

Fred's ashes will be buried at the family plot in Baltimore later for his Maryland family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers.
