Gary B. Sallee

Gary B. Sallee, 80, of Bluffton, SC passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Gary was born in Pontiac, MI where he lived until he joined the Navy in 1959.  He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after twenty years of service.  While in the Navy, he pursued a college degree and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and received his Master’s Degree in counseling from the University of Illinois.  After retiring from the Navy, he worked for the State of Illinois and eventually retired in South Carolina.

Gary is survived by his four daughters: Mia Blewer (Jerry) of Yemassee, SC; Heather Sullivan (Jason) of Summerville, SC; Kara Sallee of Flat Rock, MI, and MSG U.S. Army Jeryn Sallee of Ft. Carson, CO; grandchildren Jackson, Jared, Weston, Reagan, Aiden, Layna, Henrik, and Owen; his three brothers; Carl, Bill, (Carol), and Brian (Phyl); his cousin, Vickie Boudrie (Jack) and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Carl Laverne Sallee and Margie Belle Niemi Sallee, and two grandchildren, Jeremy Owen Blewer and Gabriella Elizabeth Harvey.

A private Catholic service and burial will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery.
