Geanne McCollum, 76, of Bluffton, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from complications of a long-term illness. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Richard McCollum.
Born in Sandy Springs, Georgia to Earl and Lantie Garner Turner, she spent her formative years in Atlanta. After graduating from Massey Business College, she worked for the Monroe Business Machine Company's Atlanta office for 25 years in various lead executive support and resource roles.
In addition to Georgia, Geanne lived in Missouri, New Hampshire and Massachusetts as well as London, England and Glasgow, Scotland. She and Richard enjoyed traveling and did so overseas as well as extensively in the United States, South America and the Caribbean. In 2000, they moved to Sun City Hilton Head where they enjoyed many retirement years.
Geanne was a faithful follower of Jesus as well as a student of the Bible. She spent many years in deep Bible Study in various cities. She was a voracious reader who was precise in her personal punctuation and spelling. She loved live theater and performances of all types.
Geanne will be remembered for her cheerful and optimistic view of life, her steadfast faith, her inspirational outlook throughout her illness and her fortitude through it all. She was blessed with many friends as well as family and treasured them all.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Allen L. Williams, Jr. of Statesboro, GA; her grandson, Allen L. Williams III (Penny) of Atlanta and two great grand daughters, Arwen and Eowyn Williams.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Grace Coastal Presbyterian Church, 15 Williams Dr., Okatie, SC at 11 am. Reception in the Church Fellowship Hall will follow.
