Gene Otto Cooler

Gene Otto Cooler, age 87 of Bluffton and husband of Deloris Hiott Cooler passed away at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, GA after a short illness. Gene’s passing on February 28 was his mother’s birthday.

Gene was born in Hardeeville, SC on May 13, 1932 to the late Carl Ashby Cooler and Annie Jeanette Cooler.

Gene lived at Palmetto Bluff for 27 years; was employed at Union Camp Corporation for 36 years; and was a member of Maye River Baptist Church.  He loved animals especially his dogs and always had one by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years; his son, Gene O. Cooler Jr. (Melody) of Bluffton; his daughter, Jeannie Cooler Davis (Danny) of Nevils, GA; grandchildren, Carl Morgan Cooler, Joe Davis, Buck Davis and Brian Milton; five great grandchildren; one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his brothers, Carl A. Cooler and Jonas Bobby Cooler.

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 2, 2020 at Maye River Baptist Church until the hour of the service at 3:00 pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
