George Edgar Hauver passed away in Hilton Head, South Carolina on September 17, 2014. He was 87 years old. He is survived by Elsie; his wife of 55 years, his son Bill, his son Bob and his wife Lyndall and his three grandchildren Megan, Will and Tom.
George was born in Hagerstown, Maryland but lived most of his life in Harford County, Maryland before retiring in Hilton Head. George graduated from Washington College and earned a Masters in Physics from the University of Maryland. He spent his entire career as a physicist in the Ballistic Research Laboratory at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he received numerous achievement awards for armor related research.
George was a friendly and kind person. He loved his family and being a physicist. He was an avid photographer and loved to play tennis. He won the 1954 Newspaper National Snapshot Award and was a member of the South Beach 2002 USTA super seniors team that won the regional championship.
Per George's request, his family will take him to Valley Farm in Black Mountain, North Carolina where they spent many wonderful family vacations.
