George W. Lane

December 7, 1946 — March 10, 2022

George W. Lane, beloved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2022, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was 75 years old.

Born on December 7, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Agnes and Hughey Lane, George enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and spent four years in the service, two of those in Vietnam.

In 1968, he wed his high school sweetheart, Annette Ferrigno, and she travelled with him to various Naval stations during his service.

Afterwards, they moved to Severna Park, Maryland, where they lived for 39 years before retiring to Bluffton, South Carolina.

George spent most of his career as an engineer at SAIC (formerly IDEAS, Inc.), a defense contractor, where he rose to the position of Vice President.

George was a wonderful husband and father and grandfather, and was happiest surrounded by family, and cooking on his grill and smoker. He will be terribly missed.

George is survived by his wife, Annette, of 53 years, his children, Christopher, Chelsea and Cara, his sister, Barbara Kerger of Port Charlotte, Florida, his daughter-in-law, Su Kyong Lane, of Seoul, South Korea, his son-in-law Todd Garside, of Severna Park, Maryland, and his grandson, Bryan Garside of Nashville, Tennessee.

There will be a private memorial service for George at a later date, when his son Christopher is physically able to travel from Korea.
